An Integrative Perspective on Two-Chair Work (1993)

An Integrative Perspective on Two-Chair Work (1993)2017-04-07T02:55:07+00:00

Project Description

This is a paper written initially as a summary hand-out for my workshops on 'Working with Dialogue / Two-Chair Work', I have been working on a much longer version over the years, leading towards a manual for this therapeutic tool that covers both theory and technique. By focussing on common pitfalls which therapists report in supervision, it is possible to draw out some of the inherent difficulties of the technique and how it is traditionally used. I then suggest some complementary ideas and concepts (essentially anchoring the dialogue in bodymind processes and attending to the transference), designed to help practitioners feel for confident and comfortable with using this potentially powerful tool.
