This article follows on from my chapter "From Humanistic Holism via the 'Integrative Project' towards Integral-Relational Body Psychotherapy" (2007) and focusses on a specific phase in the development of Chiron Body Psychotherapy (i.e. the years between 1992 and 1998) which can suitably be called the years of the 'integrative project'. The article discusses an holistic approach to integration and the advantages, limitations and difficulties of that particular development which eventually required another quantum leap (towards the 'integrative-relational', and later the 'integral-relational').

This article charts the deconstruction of the 'medical model' (which was taken for granted as a basic paradigm for the work of psychoanalysis by Freud at the conception of our profession) over the 100 years since then. It starts from the premise that the 'medical model' implies a dualistic split between practitioner and patient which ring-fences the 'wound' in the patient. That split has been questioned and comprehensively de-constructed by a series of insights into how the patient's wound refuses to be segregated and 'enters' - the consulting room, the therapist and even the supervisor.
